SIX NATIONS SOON IN ROME

SIX NATIONS SOON IN ROME

One of the most important rugby events in the year is just behind the corner: in one month Six Nations Championship will start. For five weeks England, France, Italy, Scotland and Wales will face each other to snatch the prestigious cup from 2014 winner Ireland, and – just in the case of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales – to gain the Triple Crown as well.
The very first match will take place in Cardiff (UK) on February 7. Italy has three home fixtures (against Ireland, France and Wales), and two away fixtures (vs England and Scotland). Our team has been playing in the Six Nations Championship since 2000, by virtue of her successful results in the past twenty years.
We shortlisted for you the matches at Stadio Olimpico in Rome:
ITALY vs IRELAND Saturday 7 February 2015, 2:30 pm
ITALY vs FRANCE Sunday 15 March 2015, 3 pm
ITALY vs WALES Saturday 21 March 2015, 12.30 pm

Six Nations 2014

Six_Nations_Championship.svgScotland and England will jet into Rome for the 2014 Rugby Six Nations tournament to face the Italian team at home.

The Azzurri will want to improve last year’s performance wen they finished in the 4th place, under England, France and Ireland. This year will see them take to their home ground 2 times. The first home game sees the Scottish travel to the capital on Sunday February 22nd. Then England will visit the Eternal City on March 15th.

England, will try by all means to  win again the tournament as they did for the last time on 2011. The Irish could be among the tournament’s favourites, and maintain a ruthless record against Italy.  Scotland will try to improve the third place obtained last year and Wales will be looking to renew its championship.

The matches will take place at the Stadio Olimpico that can be easily reached from Yes Hotel or Hotel Des Artistes: just take the red subway line and get off at the station Flaminio, then take the tram 2 across the street until the last stop.

The All Blacks

The All Blacks, New Zealand’s national rugby team, will play a test match against Italy in Rome on 17 November, according to the Italian Rugby Federation. The New Zealand men’s national rugby union team, known as the All Blacks, represent New Zealand in what is regarded as its national sport. The All Blacks are the Rugby world cup champions, the IRB’s current Team of the Year, the leading points scorers of all time and the only international rugby team with a record winning margin against every test nation they have played. The All Blacks have held the top ranking in the world for longer than all other countries combined and in over 100 years only five test rugby nations have ever beaten New Zealand.  All-Blacks-Rugby

It will be the first time that the All Blacks have played at the 72,000-seater Stadio Olimpico, as the last time Italy hosted the formidable squad from down under was in 2009. That game was played in Milan’s S. Siro stadium in front of 81,000 spectators, and the All Blacks won 20-6. The last time the All Blacks played in Rome was at Flaminio Stadium – currently no longer being used by the FIR – when they hammered the Italians 59-10 in 2004.

The champion team is known for performing the fearsome “haka” (a traditional M?ori challenge) before each international match. During their northern hemisphere tour, the All Blacks will play Scotland on 10 November, then Italy, Wales and England over the following Saturdays.

Italy plans to face Tonga on 10 November in Turin, and Australia on 24 November in Bologna.
