”Popes of hope: art and religion in Seventeeth century Rome” exhibit in Castel Sant’Angelo has been now extended until 11 January 2015.
It is much more than an exhibit in fact, it’s an event, for it was set up (still in spring 2014) in order to celebrate the first year after Pope Francis’ election. Thanks to this extension, any visitors at Castel Sant’Angelo will have the unique chance to admire some of the masterpieces of ‘500-‘600 Italian art: works by Caravaggio, Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Pietro da Cortona, only to name a few.
The exhibition aims at highlighting the intimate connection between art and catholic faith between 16th and 17th century, when the Popes gradually turned the arts into a vehicle to spread Christian religion.
Venue and timing: Castel Sant’Angelo Museum, Tue-Sun 9am-7pm.
Yes Hotel is located at walking distance from bus #40 stop, which takes right beside Castel Sant’Angelo: ask our staff for further info!
