If you are looking for shoes and clothes nearby the historical hot spots, via del Corso (the lane connecting piazza del Popolo to piazza Venezia) teems with options to suit all budgets. Take also a visit to Galleria Colonna (nearby the Parliament) and let yourself be enchanted by its elegant architecture. The adjoining road via del Tritone is a must if you are interested in leather bags and accessorizes.Piazza di Spagna and its neighboring lanes (such as via dei Condotti and via Frattina) are the core area for all the high fashion designers stores: Bulgari, Valentino, Vuitton, Burberry, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, only to name a few. Following via del Corso style, there is via Nazionale (the lane starting from piazza della Repubblica, at stroll distance from Termini station): the realm of casual clothes, underwear and shoes shops.
Moving to the Vatican area, make of via Cola di Rienzo your reference point if you are looking for an Italian style classical and fashionable attire, whereas the little shops standard of via Ottaviano is a good alternative to via del Corso and via Nazionale

MAURICE DENIS… COMING SOON TO ROME

MAURICE DENIS… COMING SOON TO ROME

Summer has just begun, and yet in many museums in Rome the forthcoming season of exhibitions has already being refined.
Right across the fresh and relaxing environment of Villa Borghese (the central park in Rome), for instance, the specialist team at the National Gallery of Modern has been working on Maurice Denis, dai Nabis a una Nuova Spiritualità (Maurice Denis, from the Nabis to a new spirituality), the new exciting art event scheduled from 20 November 2015 until 3 April 2016.
The exhibition will revisit, throughout one hundred works of his, the evolution of the French artist from a legendary post-impressionist avant-gard group which had named itself “Nabis” (Hebrew word for “prophet”, with reference to the new forms of expressions created by this artistic group), to the “Ateliers d’Art Sacré”, that on the other side attempted to reconcile the Church institution with the modern civilization.
Maurice Denis stands against any  sort of art aiming at sacrificing the emotions to conventional patterns; consistently, he is as against the “dead prose” of realism. He is a promoter of  living poetry instead, where the personality of the artist is the only crucial issue during the creative process: “What really creates a work of art is the power and the will of the artist” and “anything necessary to a paint well has to be sincere.’’
From Yes Hotel just catch metro line A and get off at Flaminio. From there either bus #910 or tram 19 will take you right opposite the National Gallery of Modern Art!
