The All Blacks

The All Blacks, New Zealand’s national rugby team, will play a test match against Italy in Rome on 17 November, according to the Italian Rugby Federation. The New Zealand men’s national rugby union team, known as the All Blacks, represent New Zealand in what is regarded as its national sport. The All Blacks are the Rugby world cup champions, the IRB’s current Team of the Year, the leading points scorers of all time and the only international rugby team with a record winning margin against every test nation they have played. The All Blacks have held the top ranking in the world for longer than all other countries combined and in over 100 years only five test rugby nations have ever beaten New Zealand.  All-Blacks-Rugby

It will be the first time that the All Blacks have played at the 72,000-seater Stadio Olimpico, as the last time Italy hosted the formidable squad from down under was in 2009. That game was played in Milan’s S. Siro stadium in front of 81,000 spectators, and the All Blacks won 20-6. The last time the All Blacks played in Rome was at Flaminio Stadium – currently no longer being used by the FIR – when they hammered the Italians 59-10 in 2004.

The champion team is known for performing the fearsome “haka” (a traditional M?ori challenge) before each international match. During their northern hemisphere tour, the All Blacks will play Scotland on 10 November, then Italy, Wales and England over the following Saturdays.

Italy plans to face Tonga on 10 November in Turin, and Australia on 24 November in Bologna.

A nice little evening walk in Rome

I started my evening walk from Ottaviano metro station. (Line A, direction battistini).  I wanted to see the city in a evening time with a beautiful lights around the buildings.ROMA-DI-NOTTE-34

It took about 10 minutes walking from metro station to San Pietro. San Pietro is very beautiful in the evening time. Every traveller must  see it! And in the evening time it’s not too crowded there. You can see all the statues and be amazed by the beauty of  the Vatican.

After San Pietro I headed to the Gianicolo. It takes about 30minutes to walk from San Pietro to Gianicolo. I was walking down a street called Viale delle mura aurelie: a very nice  green area with  little gardens and plantings. Finaly I arrived to the Gianicolo which is located up  in a hill, where you can see almost the whole city. It is one of the best locations in Rome for a breathtaking view of the innumerable domes and bell towers that pierce the skyline of the multi-hued architectural museum that is the Eternal City. I stood there for a while, enjoying the view and then I felt very hungry so I decided to go eat something.

800px-Piazza_santa_maria_in_trastevere_nightlifeThere’s no better place for dinner than Trastevere! After 10 minutes walk from Gianicolo I arrived to Trastevere.  The neighbourhood is easily recognizable by its narrow cobbled streets lined by medieval houses. At night, both natives and tourists alike flock to its many pubs and restaurants. I found a nice restaurant next to the Piazza Santa Maria. My first course was Bruschetta with olive oil and tomatoes,  a traditional italian antipasto. It consists of roasted bread with several choices of garnish. Molto buono! My second dish was pepper steak with cream sauce, potatoes and salad. So delicious! My stomach was full! Instead of dessert I ordered Limoncello. Limoncello is traditionally served chilled as an after-dinner digestivo.  Very good for your stomach after dinner!

Karaoke in Rome!

A couple of weeks ago I was looking for karaoke pubs in Rome. I found on the internet an Irish pub called Scholars Lounge. It looked very inviting so I went there with my friend.

There’s a karaoke on every Sunday and Tuesday from 10.30 P.M.

I love singing so I was very exited to get there.

It has a good location in the centre of Rome just around the corner from Piazza Venezia.

We went there around ten o’clock and it was already full of Irish people and also people from another countries. The atmosphere was nice and cozy. I saw only happy people around me.

The bar is separated in two parts. In the first part, there are many televisions showing some sport programs, like football. In another part there’s the karaoke. There’s a nice small stage for singers. The lightning and the sound is good so even there’s a lot of noise you can hear everything what you sing because of the good sound!

So, then I had to choose a song. The song list  was very thick! There are songs for everybody no matter what age you are. It’s for everybody. You can find songs from different categories like pop, jazz, blues, rock etc…  I decided to sing Led Zeppelins “Whole lotta love”. The karaoke started and the karaoke host sang few songs first. Very impressive, I have to say. He had a good charisma and voice. After him it was my turn. I went to the stage and first I felt a little bit shy, but in a few seconds this feeling was gone, because the audience was so nice and friendly. After my song was finished I got a big big applause! It was so amazing!

No matter what’s your singing level, the audience treats everybody in the same way.
